Garfield Lax 2010 Comes to a Close...

The 2010 season of Garfield Lacrosse came to a close this past Friday evening with a first round playoff loss to Lynnwood. Although the Bulldogs showed a lot of heart and
waaay more class than their opponents, they unfortunately came up on the short end of a 16-3 final tally, bringing a premature end to their first post season appearance in 3 years.

This season, the players and coaches had to contend with any number of difficulties, including a spate of early season injuries that would have knocked many other teams out of contention entirely. The Bulldogs fought their way through these adversities to finish #3 in the Metro Conference...a feat all the more remarkable when one considers the fact that over 70% of our players are underclassmen. With these solid underpinnings we expect an exceptionally strong foundation for the future.

The members of the Garfield Men’s Lacrosse Club Board would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all players, coaches, and especially the parents and families who have generously supported the Club this past year. Without your generous contributions of both time and money, this Club simply could not function. We look forward to next season, and beyond. With your continued support, we will strive to provide a positive lacrosse experience for all.

GO BULLDOGS!

P.S. The Garfield Men’s Lacrosse Club will be sponsoring an End of Season Extravaganza (...ok, maybe not quite an extravaganza) where we’ll send our seniors off to their futures, and perhaps raise a glass or two (or more) in celebration of a fun season, and toast the future, too. The location will be Matt Kenny’s pad near the Beach, sometime in early June. Please keep an eye out for future announcements...

Changes to this week's schedule:

The game with Tahoma HS, originally scheduled for this Wednesday, May 12th, has been cancelled.

The Bulldogs’ return to postseason play starts this Friday, at 7pm with a quarterfinal game against Cascade Division leader Lynnwood at
Lynnwood HS.

Please make an effort to get out to this game and get our guys riled up. They’ve played hard this season, and have fought through much adversity to get to this point. They and their coaches have shown tremendous heart and deserve our support!

And finally, from our friends up North, who find themselves in the NLL Final game at Comcast Arena in Everett, Wa...

This week in Bulldog Lax...

Last week was especially satisfying for the Garfield Bulldogs. Wednesday saw the Bulldogs post a much needed victory over then conference leader Roosevelt with a 9-8 win. Friday afternoon, Garfield
(7-4-0) continued their winning ways with a convincing 16-1 decision over Franklin.

Also on Friday, the playoff race become a bit clearer, with Blanchet’s
(9-2-0) victory over Roosevelt (8-3-0). At this point, the ‘Dogs are solidly in 3rd place and are in the playoffs, two games behind Blanchet, and one game back of Roosevelt. With only two league games remaining, including one against Blanchet, the Bulldogs have once again returned to postseason play. Please check the current standings as the 2010 regular season comes to a conclusion.

This week’s games include a Tuesday night game (8pm) against Highline at Burien’s
Moshier Memorial Park. Thursday has them in their final league game at Blanchet at 6pm. Next week, the 2010 season concludes with a non-league contest with Tahoma at 7pm in Covington.

Please make an effort to come out and support the team. They have worked hard all season and really appreciate your efforts to cheer them on.
