November 27, 2009 Filed in: News Updates
This Monday, 11/30/2009 at SODO Arena Sports, the 2010 season gets underway with the Captain’s Practice sessions. These start at 3:30 pm, and run for 90 minutes. Designed to get everyone reacquainted with the feel of a stick in your hand, these sessions will be run by Peter Vogt, and are open to all returning players and new players. Sessions are on Mondays for the next month or so, with some exceptions for the holidays. Please check the Calendar for remaining dates.
The sessions are “non-contact”, so no pads are needed, but please bring your gloves and helmets.
Please drop us a line and let us know if you intend to participate so we can get a rough headcount,
Also, please remember that Registration for the upcoming season is now underway, and can be started by going to the Registration Page.
Registration Opens

Registration for the 2010 season of Garfield Lacrosse is now open!
To start the process, please head to the Registration Page. Returning players should have their valid USLax member number available. You can check status and renew or obtain a new membership by visiting US Lacrosse and following the member link.
Please Note:
There have been some changes made by Coach Kelly that pertain to attendance at all Garfield Lacrosse functions this season. Starting with the official practices commencing on March 1st, 2010 no player who misses more than 3 team functions (practices, games, etc) will be allowed to continue to participate, and will effectively be cut from the team. Exceptions to this policy will be made only for illness or scheduled school-related academic activities, and will be at the discretion of Coach Kelly on a case by case basis.
This policy has been instituted as a direct consequence of past seasons’ issues, where due to the differing vacation schedules of our member schools, it has been difficult to field an effective, cohesive team during Spring break.
Please contact Ryan Kelly with any questions, preferably before you register.

Registration Starts Soon

The Registration for the 2010 season is pretty simple. Prospective player's parents or guardians will attend a preseason meeting where Coach Ryan Kelly will outline the program and its requirements for participation. The preseason indoors "Captain's Practices" will be discussed as well. This meeting will be on November 18th, 2009 at 7pm at the home of Peter and Ali Vogt:
609 34th Avenue East
Seattle, WA 98122
Once registration starts, all interested players will fill out and submit a registration form online. Registration is complete when the club has received your packet of signed liability waivers and the fees for the 2010 season. For new players, registration fees are $150, with returning players at $250. This is in recogition of the fact that there is a substantial investment in equipment that must be made.
